Dashboard Layout

The dashboard is the first page you see when you log in to the Wavechrome Film Portal. It's designed to give you a quick overview of your films and measurements, along with easy access to common tasks.

Main Components

The dashboard consists of several key sections:

1. Header Area - Contains your name, profile menu, and search bar

2. Welcome Banner - Personalized greeting and today's summary

3. Quick Actions - Fast buttons for common tasks

4. Statistics Cards - Visual summary of your inventory and measurements

5. Recent Activity - A list of your most recent actions and measurements

Welcome Banner

At the top of the dashboard, you'll see a personalized welcome message that includes:

  • Your name
  • Current date and time
  • Quick status summary (if any alerts)
  • Organization name
Pro Tip

The welcome banner also displays any pending actions that need your attention, such as expired films or measurements awaiting review.

Quick Actions

Below the welcome banner, you'll find quick action buttons that let you start common tasks immediately without navigating through menus.

Common Quick Actions:
  • New Measurement - Quickly start recording a new measurement
  • New Film Batch - Create a new batch of radiochromic films
  • Scan Gallery - View all uploaded film scan images
  • Advanced Search - Find films, boxes, or measurements
  • Film Hierarchy - Browse all films organized by batch and box
Using Quick Actions

Simply click any quick action button to start that task. The system will take you to the appropriate form or page to complete the action. This saves you time compared to navigating through the main menu.

Statistics Overview

The statistics section displays key metrics about your film inventory and measurements at a glance. These numbers update in real-time as you add or modify data.

Statistics Cards

The dashboard shows the following statistics:

Total Batches

Number of film batches (LOTs) in your organization

Total Boxes

Number of film storage boxes across all batches

Total Films

Total number of individual films tracked

Total Measurements

Number of dose measurements recorded

Stored Scans

Number of film scan images uploaded

Alerts

Expired films or other items needing attention

Using Statistics for Insights

The statistics cards help you understand your inventory at a glance:

  • Track inventory growth over time
  • Monitor measurement activity levels
  • Identify when you need more films
  • See if backup and archival workflows are being used

Recent Activity

The Recent Activity section shows you what has been happening in your organization recently. This helps you stay informed about your team's work and identify issues quickly.

Activity Types

Recent activity includes:

  • New Measurements: Recently recorded dose measurements
  • New Films: Recently created individual films
  • New Batches: Recently registered film batches
  • Uploads: Recently uploaded scan images
  • Changes: Recently modified film properties or measurement data
Activity Timeline

The activity list shows:

Activity Details:
  • Action description (what was done)
  • Item affected (batch name, film ID, measurement ID)
  • User who performed the action
  • Timestamp (date and time)
  • Quick links to view the affected item
Filtering and Searching Activity

You can filter recent activity by:

  • Activity type (measurements, films, batches, etc.)
  • Date range
  • User who performed the action
  • Item name or ID

Audit Trail

The activity log creates a complete audit trail of all actions taken in the system. This is valuable for compliance, troubleshooting, and understanding how your data has changed over time.

Navigation Menu

The main navigation menu is accessible from the left sidebar (or hamburger menu on mobile devices) and provides access to all platform sections.

Return to the main dashboard from anywhere in the platform

Films

Expand to access film management:

  • Batches (LOTs) - Top-level film groups
  • Boxes - Film storage containers
  • Films - Individual film sheets
  • Film Groups - Custom film collections (if enabled)
Measurements

Access measurement-related features:

  • View all measurements
  • Create new measurement
  • Measurement templates (Premium)
  • Scan gallery
Reports Premium

Generate and view reports (Premium feature):

  • Measurement reports
  • Trend analysis
  • Custom reports
Admin

Organization management (Administrator only):

  • User management
  • Organization settings
  • Subscription management
  • Audit logs

Mobile Navigation

On mobile devices, the menu collapses into a hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top left. Tap it to expand the menu, then tap menu items to navigate.

Pro Tip

You can collapse the sidebar menu on desktop computers by clicking the collapse button. This gives you more space for viewing content. Your preference is remembered for future visits.
